MY STORY
About The Wanderlust Within
get to know me
ROSHNI PATEL
I’m Roshni, a born and bred Londoner with a penchant for traveling, hula hooping, hiking, photography and all things arts and crafts.
I’m an adrenaline junkie with a slight obsession with climbing everything (especially volcanoes) and seem to always be covered in bruises (thank god for Arnica tablets!).
I’ve visited 80 countries, and love to explore off the beaten track destinations. Highlights include Alta in Arctic Norway, the Knuckles Mountains in Sri Lanka, and the secluded Bay of Eagles in the Dominican Republic.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
FROM BANKER TO BLOGGER
For years, I worked in investment banking and asset management.
I’d perfected the skill of maximising annual leave, but it was never enough. I took extended time off to travel, but just came back hungrier for more.
I ended up being the go to girl for travel tips in the office, and permanently turned one of my multiple computer screens into what I called “The Spreadsheet”, don’t worry it’s not as nerdy or lame as it sounds! It just needed to blend in with the rest of my screens 😉
In reality it was a collection of my bucket list trips, tips, timetables, amazing places to stay, best times of year to go…the Excel tabs went on and on…
In 2017 the spreadsheet had grown too large to save, so it evolved into articles and The Wanderlust Within was born. Now 6 years on, I’ve won awards, and grown my readership to over 370,000 a month, and 70k social media followers.
Moral of the story, follow your passions, paths are meant to diverge
